Additional Requirements and Information: 1)  Must have had Medicaid coverage for twenty-four (24) months within a thirty-six (36) consecutive month period prior to high school completion;  2) Must be enrolled in courses leading to an Associate degree or certificate at a qualifying participating Michigan post-secondary educational institution;  3) Applicants are encouraged to file the FAFSA, although not required;  4) Scholarship grant awarded as follows: TIP provides assistance in two (2) phases.

    • Phase I is applied to standard in-district tuition and mandatory fees for eligible students enrolled in a credit-based or min. one (1) year certificate program or Associate degree at a participating Michigan community college, public university, degree-granting independent college, federal tribal-controlled college, or Focus: HOPE.

 

  • Phase II provides a max. of $2,000.00 total tuition assistance for credits earned in a four (4) year program at an in-state, degree-granting college or university.

NOTE:

•  After being identified as TIP eligible by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Student Scholarships and Grants will send the student an application which must be completed telephonically or on paper and returned to Student Scholarships and Grants via postal mail.

•  Students must graduate (or the equivalent) from high school before their twentieth (20th) birthday to maintain TIP eligibility. Student Scholarships and Grants will send the student an “eligibility letter” during their senior year of high school.
