Additional Requirements and Information:

1) Must plan to study-abroad; 2) Must either be matriculated in or applying to an accredited graduate degree program at a U.S. college or university; 3) One (1) page description of the study abroad program; 4) Budget for study-abroad program required; 5) Language self-assessment required; 6) Fellowship awarded as follows: Boren Fellowships provide up to $24,000.00 for overseas study. Additionally, Boren Fellowships can provide limited funding for domestic language study that will supplement the overseas component. The maximum award for a combined overseas and domestic program is $30,000.00. 

NOTE:

o Applicants must adhere to their campus deadline. To find your campus representative, check HERE.

o Boren Fellows commit to working in the federal government for at least one (1) year after graduation.

o Boren Fellowships are made for a min. of twelve (12) weeks overseas and a max. of one (1)  year overseas. Boren-funded programs can begin no earlier than June 1 (annually).

o  Priority consideration given to applicants proposing overseas programs of six (6) months or longer.

o Recipients notified NLT mid-late April (annually).
