Additional Requirements and Information:

1) Must plan to study-abroad; 2) One (1) page description of the study abroad program required; 3) Budget for study-abroad program required; 4) Language self-assessment required; 5) Priority for programs in countries, languages, and fields of study critical to U.S. national security; 6) Priority consideration for applicants who will study abroad for longer periods of time and who are highly motivated by the opportunity to work in the federal government; 7) Transcript(s) required; 8) Scholarship awarded as follows:

o $8,000.00 for a summer program
(special initiative for STEM students
only; 8 weeks min.);
o $10,000.00 for a semester;
o $20,000.00 for 6 – 12 months.

NOTE:

o Boren Scholars commit to working in the federal government for at least one (1) year after graduation.

o Recipients notified NLT mid-late April (annually).
