Additional Requirements and Information:

1) Must be actively enrolled in or accepted to a Louisiana accredited Fall 2021 Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), or Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program and in good academic standing; 2) Priority consideration given to applicants from a diverse or underrepresented population as defined by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC): Those racial and ethnic populations that are underrepresented in the medical profession relative to their numbers in the general population; 3)  Priority consideration  given to a dependent or child of a current Ochsner employee.

NOTE:

• o  2021 is the inaugural year for this scholarship award.

• o  Ochsner Scholar (BSN/ADN/LPN) recipients will be announced NLT September 2021.

• o  Employees of Ochsner Health who are enrolled or accepted into a full-time nursing program are eligible to apply.

• o  Over the next five (5) years, more than a thousand (1000) scholarships will be awarded.

• o  Upon graduation, Ochsner Scholars will make a min. commitment of full-time employment at Ochsner Health commensurate to their funding amount. For example, a Scholar in their first year of a BSN program receiving funds throughout their entire three (3) years will be asked to commit five (5) years of service. An LPN Scholar in their first year will be asked to commit three (3) years. Exact awards and employment commitment will be determined by the nurse selection committee and human resources.
