Additional Requirements and Information:

1)  Must be enrolled in an accredited U.S. college or university; 2) Demonstrated financial need; 3) FAFSA required; 4) Must be Pell Grant eligible; 5) Must be in the process of applying to, or accepted for, a study abroad or internship program of at least two (2) weeks for community college students and four (4) weeks for students from four (4) year institutions, in a single country and eligible for credit from the student’s home institution; 6) Proof of program acceptance required; 7) Study Abroad Advisor certification required; 8) Financial Aid Advisor certification required; 9) Scholarship award payable as follows: Up to $5,000.00 (depending on the length of study and student need). Applicants who are studying a “critical need” language while abroad in a country in which the language is predominantly spoken will automatically be considered for the “Critical Need Language Award,” for a total award of up to $8,000.00.

NOTE:

o  The Gilman Scholarship Program aims to support a diverse range of students who have been traditionally under-represented in education abroad.

 

o  Host country must not be currently under a Travel Warning issued by the U.S Department of State.


o March 13, 2018 (NLT 11:59 p.m. CDT) is the deadline for Study Abroad Advisor and Financial Aid Advisor certifications.
